JOB SUMMARY
The Cognition, Action, and Psychophysiology (CAP) Lab ( , PI: Dr. Kimberly Cuevas ) in the Department of Psychological Sciences, at the University of Connecticut, Waterbury Campus is seeking a full-time Research Assistant. The successful candidate will assist with two multi-site NIH-funded longitudinal studies. One project (iLearn) examines individual differences in infant learning in collaboration with Dr. John Colombo (University of Kansas). The other project, BUBBLES (Babies: Understanding Brains and Baseline Longitudinal EEG Study), investigates the development of neural and self-regulatory processes in collaboration with Dr. Martha Ann Bell (Virginia Tech) and Dr. Zhe Wang (Texas A&M).
The Research Assistant (RA) will work with infants, their parents, and a team of researchers (undergraduate/graduate students, RAs, postdocs, and faculty). This position offers an opportunity to obtain training and hands-on experience with several research methodologies, including EEG, ECG, resting-state procedures, contingency learning paradigms, and cognitive assessments. The RA will be responsible for day-to-day duties in the laboratory, including recruitment and tracking of participants and data collection. There will also be opportunities for other lab-related research projects and cross-site training.
The position is an excellent opportunity for highly motivated individuals preparing for a graduate career in Developmental Psychology, Cognitive Science, or a related field. The successful candidate will have opportunities to be involved in conference submissions, presentations, and manuscript preparation. This position is a full-time, 12-month appointment (annually renewable based on performance and funding availability). The desired start date would ideally be during October 2024.?
This position is subject to annual renewal, contingent on satisfactory performance and budget funding. Other rights, terms, and conditions of employment are contained in the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Connecticut and the American Association of University Professors UConn Chapter (AAUP).
