Join us and support CSAA IG in achieving our goals. *Your Role:* As Reinsurance Consultant, you will play a critical role in protecting our capital, managing our risk, and ensuring that CSAA IG is in a strong financial position after catastrophic events.

  • Your work: *
  • Ceded (outbound) property catastrophe reinsurance to support business operations and risk-taking, to provide for the optimal capital structure, to foster the firm’s ability to trade through a major event and continue operations. Strategic approach is required to balance reinsurance cost, credit quality, contract terms/breadth, and a sustainable/long-term reinsurance capital structure.
  • Other ceded (outbound) reinsurance transactions to provide specialized protection, to support new business lines of insurance, to opportunistically find areas of market inefficiency and arbitrage, etc.
  • Assumed (inbound) reinsurance programs to take calculated risks, to diversify our risk portfolio, and to explicitly pursue attractive revenue and profit opportunities.
  • Captive life reinsurance company across all areas, including external partnerships, financial, legal, regulatory, strategic, and operational.
  • “Second line of defense” mindset and function, providing cross-functional resources, consulting, and expertise to help the business run a more effective and capital-efficient insurance company.
  • Required Experience, Education and Skills*
  • 5+ years’ experience Reinsurance, Actuarial, Catastrophe Risk Management, Enterprise Risk Management, and/or Financial Risk Management.
  • Excellent communication (oral, written), organizational, and project management skills.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Learning agility and change resilience.
  • Strategic vision and ability to build business-case scenarios for business partners and board of directors.
  • Ability to negotiate and collaborate with all levels of personnel from end users to executive management.
  • Ability to influence with or without formal authority, often delivering results through others.
  • Ability to lead, mentor and provide training and guidance to others.
  • What would make us excited about you?*
  • Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) or Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) designations.
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Associate in Reinsurance (ARe), and/or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designations.
  • Advanced understanding of CSAA IG business strategy.
  • Experience working with product, financial, and/or operational measures and models, business planning, cost-benefit analysis, and senior-level analysis as they apply to business unit and CSAA IG.
  • Expertise in interpretation of reinsurance contracts.
  • Experience with natural catastrophe and capital models.
  • Ability to navigate source data to provide clarity and insight into business behaviors.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Accounting for insurance transactions.
  • Familiarity with finance principles.

CSAA Insurance Group is an equal opportunity employer. The national average salary range for this position is $136,800 - $152,000. However, we have a location-based compensation structure. Our salary ranges vary and are calculated based on county of residence. The full salary range for this position across all the states we hire in is $123,120 - $182,500. This role also includes an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, through our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP), of up to 12% of eligible pay.
