Your role at Clorox: Hourly Rate: $23.49/hr + $0.95/hr Shift Differential when on night shifts
The Process Operator will work in a dynamic team-based environment with the responsibility to safely produce the highest quality cat litter in the correct amount at the right cost. Department tasks include working safely at all times without exception, unloading rail cars, operating and maintaining process equipment, monitoring associated controls and instrumentation, performing quality checks, implementing improvements, and contributing to the overall success of the plant.
In this role, you will: The Process Operator owns all aspects of their equipment, including implementing safety and quality improvements, completing machine setups and product changeovers, and achieving production and cost targets. The Process Operator will work autonomously and flow to the highest priority work, collaborate across department boundaries, participate in team based activities, and ensure compliance with all plant procedures, policies, and standards.
Work Expectations: The Process Operator will:
- Adhere to all safety and quality standards and guidelines and report unsafe conditions, near misses, and/or injuries in a timely manner.
- Unload and transport raw materials, equipment, and supplies from semi-trailers and railcars.
- Transport raw materials during product preparation.
- Operating, monitoring and adjusting the equipment within the Process Department.
- Perform quality checks and raw material inspections.
- Leverage technology as needed to stay informed (ex: daily review of email, production schedules, troubleshooting guides, job aides, etc.).
- Review and reconcile system data as needed, create reports, and perform root cause analysis.
- Enter data in computer and monitor various areas of instrumentation.
- Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic, mechanical and electrical equipment to the extent allowed by position training/certification.
- Complete routine and preventative maintenance for area equipment.
- Ensure all area housekeeping tasks are completed and workplace organization is maintained.
- Participate in the creation of training documentation as well as support the training of new Operators.
- Other duties as needed to support business operations as directed by Management.
Key Responsibilities: - Start machine by engaging controls
- Tend or operate machine that produces product
- Regulate machine flow, speed, or temperature
- Unload, transport, and supply raw materials to spindles, conveyors, hoppers, or other feeding devices
- Stock and sort product for process machine operation, and replenish process supplies
- Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of process products to standards
- Adjust machine components and machine tension and pressure according to size or processing angle of product
- Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams, and report malfunctions to a supervisor
- Inspect and remove defective products
- Clean and remove damaged or otherwise inferior materials to prepare raw products for processing
- Attach identification labels to component items
- Stack component items, or wrap protective material around each item, and pack the items in cartons or containers
- Enter data in computer and monitor various areas of instrumentation.
- Clean, oil, and make minor adjustments or repairs to machinery and equipment, such as opening valves or setting guides
- Weigh or measure materials, ingredients, or products to ensure conformance to requirements.
- Compound or process ingredients according to formulas.
- Read work orders to determine production specifications or information.
- Observe production or monitor equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Mix or blend ingredients by starting machines and mixing for specified times.
- Dump or pour specified amounts of materials into machinery or equipment.
- Collect samples of materials or products for laboratory testing.
- Operate or tend machines to mix or blend a wide variety of materials, such as minerals and fragrance.
- Add or mix chemicals or ingredients for processing, using hand tools or other devices.
- Stop mixing or blending machines when specified product qualities are obtained and open valves and start pumps to transfer mixtures.
- Examine materials, ingredients, or products visually or with hands to ensure conformance to established standards.
- Transfer materials, supplies, or products between work areas, using moving equipment or hand tools.
- Test samples of materials or products to ensure compliance with specifications, using test equipment.
- Record operational or production data on specified forms.
- Tend accessory equipment, such as pumps or conveyors, to move materials or ingredients through production processes.
- Unload mixtures into containers or onto conveyors for further processing.
- Clean and maintain equipment, using hand tools.
- Open valves to drain slurry from mixers into storage tanks.
- Dislodge and clear jammed materials or other items from machinery or equipment, using hand tools.
- Other duties as needed to support business operations as directed by Management.

- Strong communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills.
- Understanding of basic technical math and troubleshooting principles.
- Must be able to successfully complete Clorox Fork Truck Certification as outlined by the site Fork Truck Certification Policy.
- Must be able to work around fragrance and clay dust.
- Must be able to occasionally lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be willing and able to climb stairs, ladders, and other equipment/structures and perform work at heights as needed.
Working Conditions: The Process Operator continually or frequently encounters these conditions during a shift of work: 1) exposure to dust & fine particles; 2) exposure to high noise levels; 3) exposure to moving equipment; 4) exposure to scents and odors; 5) repetitive gross and fine hand motions, including grasping, gripping and bending hand/wrist; 6) standing (up to 12 hours per shift); 7) walking (up to 12 hours per shift); 8) wear common protective or safety equipment (safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats); 9) work at heights exceeding 6 feet; 10) work indoors, partially environmentally controlled; 11) climb steps and ladders; 12) work in an enclosed vehicle or equipment; 13) work in an open vehicle or equipment;
The Process Operator occasionally or seldom encounters these conditions during a shift of work: 1) bending, twisting or squatting; 2) lifting and carrying, up to 50 lbs; 3) pushing and pulling, up to 50 lbs; 4) reach above shoulder, perform work at or above shoulder height; 5) sitting; 6) wear specialized protective or safety equipment; 7) work in very hot or very cold temperatures; 8) work outdoors, exposed to weather; 9) work with cutting tools.
Required Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
