About Great Oaks Charter School - New York City The Great Oaks Charter School - New York City (GO-NYC) opened in the Fall of 2013 on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The school currently serves approximately 280 students in 6th-10th grades. At scale, Great Oaks - NYC will serve students in grades 6th-12th. In the fall of 2023, GO-NYC will open its doors in its new location at 240 Bleecker Street in the West Village. At GO-NYC, we utilize a full inclusion model which means that every core class is taught as an Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) classroom. Our classrooms will typically have two co-teachers (one content, one special education) as well as an AmeriCorps Fellow working with students every day.

Role Description The job of a food server was established for the purpose of providing cleanliness and structure in the cafeteria and with the meal programs. The position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day food safety of the program, meal distribution, student meal counts, and completing required daily paperwork for the National School Lunch Program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilitie s include the following:
- Sets up meal counting system on a daily basis for meal counts.
- Receives food from our vendor, ensures accurate delivery, and signs off on transport records
- Follows proper food safety procedures when preparing breakfast, lunch, and snack
- Serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks to students
- Ensures cleanliness in the cafeteria and all related equipment. Maintains fridge and clears out extra food prior to expiration
- Takes food service temperatures and records on production records. Counts items served and leftovers on records on production records
- Disposes of all food from the share table and cleans area
- Other duties may be assigned
Minimum qualifications - Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good problem-solving ability; good judgment
- Ability to interact appropriately with children of different ages
- Bilingual Spanish & English Preferred
- Must pass food handler's certification
- Must attend minimum training hours for USDA Professional Standards
- Background clearance

Compensation Great Oaks adheres to NYS Department of Labor regulations regarding benefits and paid leave. The anticipated salary is $16/hr.
General Information This position is for the 2024-2025 school year and the successful candidate should be prepared for an immediate start. The Food Server will report to the Director of Operations. Selected candidates will be contacted to set up a video interview.
