Job Summary:
The Division of Nephrology has two open positions for an academic Associate or Assistant Professor, on the Clinical Health Services (CHS) track or on the Clinician Teacher (CT) track to join our team as we expand our division. In particular, individuals with interest in polycystic kidney disease, onconephrology, and/or glomerular/parenchymal diseases are encouraged to apply. Those with expertise in point-of-care ultrasound and/or interventional would also be considered. This physician will be expected to provide coverage of Nephrology Division hospital services and ambulatory experiences at UW Health approved locations. The incumbent will participate in teaching learners in some or all of the Department of Medicine, Nephrology Division continuing professional education, fellowship program activities, internal medicine residency experiences in nephrology, and medical school courses and clinical experiences. If pursuing the Clinical Health Science (CHS) track, research responsibilities will include engaging in active collaborative clinical research on multi-disciplinary projects, and this physician will be encouraged to apply to obtain internal and/or extramural funding to support research endeavors. University and community service will be expected as appropriate. Appointment at the associate professor rank may include leadership participation at the division and/or department level.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will join a world-class institution that encourages, values and supports interdisciplinary basic, clinical and population health research, and attracts scholars and students from around the world. Clinical responsibilities include 3 half days of ambulatory care per week (outpatient clinics, dialysis shifts) and would participate in the inpatient coverage schedule (14-18 weeks per year) and outreach at a regional site. If a qualified interventional nephrologist is recruited to fill the position, the new hire would engage in the subspecialty interventional nephrology practice of interventional procedures at Meriter and/or UW Cath Labs. Procedures done at the Meriter cath lab are outpatient cases and procedures done at the UW Cath Lab are inpatient cases.

The successful candidate will also participate in professional, public, and university service appropriate to the faculty rank to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members. MD, DO or equivalent
Qualifications:
Strong skills in written and verbal communication, collaboration and teamwork, evidence of excellence in nephrology clinical practice and teaching, commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and academic interest in general nephrology, point-of-care ultrasound, and/or interventional nephrology, with prior publications in peer-reviewed journals preferred.
License/Certification:
Required
ABIM - American Board of Internal Medicine Certification
Ability to obtain license to practice medicine in Wisconsin.
Current certification or eligibility for certification in Nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine
